In other (exciting) beer news, Bells Brewery of Kalamazoo, Michigan, has announced it will begin distributing its beer in Massachusetts, as well as every other New England state, and New Jersey this summer.

Bells is one of the oldest and most-respected breweries in the country and brews some amazing beers. Year-round beers include the Kalamazoo Stout and Two Hearted Ale. Seasonals include Oberon Ale, a fabulous summer wheat beer. They also brew a lineup of specialty beers, including the popular Hopslam IPA and Expedition Stout.

Harpoon was the first brewery in New England to brew an India Pale Ale.[4] The beer was originally designed by Head Brewer (at the time) Tod Mott, in 1992 and first sold as a summer seasonal in 1993 and quickly became the brewery's flagship beer.[4] Harpoon IPA quickly became a staple of the American India pale ale style and was found on tap at bars and restaurants in Greater Boston.[5]

In 2015, for the first time since its founding, Harpoon Brewery suspended production of its beer citing an imminent blizzard.[12] Following the COVID-19 pandemic, the Brewery ran a campaign to fight food insecurity, donating money from beer purchases to the Vermont Foodbank and Greater Boston Food Bank.[13]

In 2022, Harpoon teamed up with the Boston Bruins hockey team to create a limited-edition beer called Hometown Hat Trick.[21] The brewery also introduced a custom blood orange IPA in partnership with the Davio's restaurant in Boston's Seaport District.[22] The same year, the company also introduced a non-alcoholic IPA called Open League, with 35 calories per serving.[23][24]

Harpoon Brewery is also well known for their various pretzels made on site, which are made from leftover yeast of beer brewing.[25] Harpoon used to produce several non-alcoholic sodas, including root beer, orange and cream, and cream soda, but ceased production in 2009. As of 2022, its homemade root beer is available on draft at its breweries.[citation needed]

We provide a best before date for almost all beers as this is mandatory. 90% of the beers come straight from the brewery and are shipped cold. All beers are stored in our refrigerated warehouse. Many breweries stamp their beers with only a bottled/canned on date, no date at all or a best before date according to US state law. We use the following guideline from our experience and to the best of our knowledge with the assurance that all products are being taken care of in the best conditions - like cold freight and storage - and intention like no other.

We enjoy trying out new food and drinks, and my hubby especially enjoy trying out new beers. If they have a flight or tasting at a bar or a brewery, we almost always get it. We had fun visiting different breweries with interesting tours in the past. So, during our stay in Vermont in the summer, we visited Harpoon Brewery Taproom and Beer Garden in Windsor.

It was located near other shops and eateries, such as SILO Distillery and Blake Hill Preserves. It was convenient if you wanted to visit multiple place, as you can just leave your car parked wherever, and walk across the parking lot. They had kind of a grand entrance with wood frames, and lots and lots of outdoor seating. We opted to sit indoor, where it was nice and cool.

We had a reservation, which was required at that time, no matter if it was during peak or off-peak hours. We were greeted warmly, and taken to our seat right away. They had a wall full of beer bottles near the entrance, fun to look at all the designs of the bottles and its labels.

And I am happy report, they do offer flight of beer here at Harpoon Brewery! You get to choose four different kinds of beer, and they come in 6 oz glasses. The tray was in a shape of harpoon, which was extra cool!

Our server was very friendly and attentive, efficient service. We were well taken care of. It was a fun visit, and we enjoyed all the beer we tried. Again, not the best food, but hey, they are brewery, focused on beer, not food. I would like to visit again and try more different kinds of beer the next time we visit Vermont! 041b061a72
